La Maestra (The Teacher) is a short documentary (~30 minutes) that tells the story of Mayra Aguilar, a young Mexican teacher in a small rural fishing village in Baja, Mexico. She becomes the first Mexican woman surfer in her area, and the film focuses on how she balances her teaching, her surfing, and how she inspires others in her community (especially girls and women), as well as her connection with the sea and environment.
